Dr. Uwe Klein, Chairman of IMTEC, Germany

Dr. Uwe Klein, born 1951, had a medical education for internal medicine and occupational health in Germany and Canada. He implemented numerous projects in prevention and expatriate care with Siemens. After 1995 he became a consultant and trainer on cultural change, corporate strategy and communications, focusing on knowledge management and e-learning. His trainings are about intercultural communication, leadership, stress management and creativity. He initiated the 1st European Congress on Health Tourism 2008 in Munich, and later produced the EMTC in Venice 2010, Barcelona 2011 and Berlin 2012.

His company HCSIntl. in Munich is running a Cross-Border Healthcare Center for patient services and supervising treatments of medical travellers.

Dr Adedayo Sobamowo, Managing Director, Hermes Consulting, Lagos, Nigeria

Dr. Adedayo Sobamowo holds degrees in Medicine and Surgery from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Management from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. He is also a Member of the Chartered Management Institute of the United Kingdom. Dayo has over 10 years of healthcare industry experience both locally and internationally. He has worked on the delivery side as a healthcare practitioner and also on the management side in Financing, Strategy and Business Development. He is currently the Managing Partner of Hermes Consulting, a dynamic healthcare management consulting firm that has executed innovative healthcare projects and solutions for international development agencies, multinational organisations and Nigerian governmental agencies. Hermes Consulting's service offering includes: International medical tourism facilitation; Healthcare project financing advisory; Hospital planning and operations management; as well as Health Insurance advisory. Hermes Consulting's has successfully executed assignments for Shell Petroleum; UK Department for International Development (DFID); Turkish Healthcare Travel Council (THTC) and the Federal Government of Nigeria among many others. Before founding Hermes Consulting in 2012, Dayo served as Country Business Advisor (Nigeria) to the Medical Credit Fund Africa (MCF), an Amsterdam based USD 20 Million health investment fund targeted at Africa. He was also Vice President, Strategy and Business Development at Hygeia Group, which is the largest integrated healthcare company in West Africa. Prior to this, Dayo worked as Strategy Manger for Aviva Healthcare which is the third largest health insurance company in the United Kingdom.

Bariah Dardari M.D, ABP, FAAP, Head of Pediatric Department, Al Zahra Hospital, Dubai, UAE

Born in Damascus, Syria, Dr Dardari has over ten years experience in the healthcare profession, after graduating with M.D degree from Damascus University / School of Medicine in Damascus, Syria, and obtaining certification from the American Board of Pediatrics in 2002. She started her career in 2002 as Associate Physician at Hackensack Pediatrics in New Jersey, where she was responsible for providing care for pediatric patients ranging from newborns to 21 years old, providing assessment for development or speech delay and ADHD, whilst also teaching first and second year medical students from UMDNJ.

In 2005, Dr Dardari transferred to Hackensack University Medical Center where she was part of a busy neonatologist team providing care for extreme premature and high-risk infants, as well as supporting the labor and delivery department.
Before making the move to the UAE, Dr Dardari spent almost two years at Chilton Memorial Hospital in New Jersey, providing care for pediatric patients on the ward, emergency room, newborn nursery, level II NICU and outpatient clinic.
Dr Dardari's first job role in the UAE was Specialist Pediatrician at American Hospital Dubai, this is where she provided care for premature newborns, inpatient care for all pediatric patients on the ward, emergency care, treatment including biomedical interventions and assessed patients with ADHD and autism.

Since joining Al Zahra in January 2013, Dr Dardari has been leading a team of 4 doctors and 15 nurses to prepare for the hospital's imminent opening. In her role as a Consultant in the Pediatrics and Neonatology Department, she will be attending to high risk/ premature infant at the level III NICU, the well newborns in the newborn nursery, and labor ward, the acutely ill pediatric patients admitted to the pediatric ward and pediatric patients from 0-16 years in the pediatric clinic for well child checkups, vaccinations and sick visit. She will also assess and treat patients with Developmental delay, speech delay, Autism and ADHD.

Dr Dardari is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is fluent in English, Arabic, Spanish and French. She is recertified by American Board of pediatrics in 2012.

With forty years of experience in healthcare, and retirement/senior living, Irving Stackpole is the President of Stackpole & Associates, Inc., marketing, market research, customer service and sales training firm. Following his graduation from Stonehill College, Irving began his career as a respiratory therapist for New England Baptist and Massachusetts General Hospitals where he rapidly established himself as an early pioneer in field as a contributing author to the seminal text, "The Principles and Practice of Respiratory Therapy". As President of the American Respiratory Therapy Foundation and an industry representative in Washington DC, he helped to write national healthcare licensing guidelines. Irving also directed NCME, the largest national network of medical educational materials, and he founded Amcare Medical Services, which became the largest home healthcare company in New England. Mr. Stackpole was the CEO of home health for Northeast Health Systems and then the Director of Marketing for Greenery Rehabilitation Group, winning two national awards for marketing campaigns. After working as Vice President for Kimberly Quality Care, the largest home health care company in the United States, Irving established Stackpole & Associates in 1991, applying his skills for the direct benefit of client organizations.

Holding US and EU passports, Irving enjoys traveling to experience and learn about different cultures, history and music. As a lifelong student, Irving is an avid reader exploring business issues with a focus on statistics as well as philosophical topics.

J. Mack Banner, CEO, Bumrungrad, Bangkok, Thailand

Mack Banner, Chief Executive Officer, Bumrungrad International Hospital
Mack Banner has over 35 years of management and development experience in the health-care sector. He has served as the CEO of Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok since July 2005. Prior to this position, Mr. Banner spent more than six years with BUPA Health Care Asia in a variety of senior management roles, including serving as the company's managing director. Before BUPA, he served for five years as director and CEO of Subang Jaya Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur, and during that time served on the board of the Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia.

Since 1980, Mr. Banner has held a variety of operational and business-development positions for Hospital Corporation of America, Tenet Healthcare and BUPA, with postings in Los Angeles, Saudi Arabia, San Francisco, Singapore, London, Sydney and prior to 1980 in Virginia. He earned his master's degree in health-care administration in 1975 from the Medical College of Virginia, where he received the AD Williams Scholarship for academic excellence.

Dato Dr. Jacob Thomas, Group Medical Advisor, Sime Darby, Malaysia

Dato' Dr Jacob Thomas, a medical doctor, is currently the President of Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia. He was a Board Member and has served the Board since 1997, and was its Honorary Secretary from 1999 to 2004.

Dato' Dr Jacob Thomas has vast experience in hospital management, after serving in various capacities at Sime Darby Medical Centre (SDMC) [formerly known as Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC)] since 1985 and finally as the Executive Director/CEO of SDMC from 1998 till 2006. He is currently the Group Medical Advisor of Sime Darby Healthcare under Sime Darby Group. Sime Darby Medical Centre is reputed for its quality and service excellence, having achieved numerous national and international certifications and awards which include the Prime Minister Quality Award in 1998 and 2003, and the inaugural International Asia Pacific Quality Award in 2000.

Dato' Dr Jacob Thomas is a member of the Consultative Panel of Healthcare sector of the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) which promotes inter-hospital benchmarking among the major private hospitals in Malaysia. He also serves as a Councilor and Board member of the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH).

Dato' Dr. Jacob Thomas also sits as a member of the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) and the "Asia Pacific Regional Advisory Council" of JCI. He works closely with various Government agencies to promote Malaysian Healthcare.

Joyce Socao-Alumno, Country Manager-Philippines, Aster DM Healthcare, Managing Director, HIM Communications, Executive Director & Chief Strategist, HealthCORE, Manila, Philippines

Jocelyn "Joyce" Alumno is the President and CEO of Honors Integrated Marketing (HIM) Communications, Inc. – a private marketing communications firm that provides public relations, advertising, creatives, events management and general marketing services to corporates, government agencies, and non-government organizations. Concurrently, she is Executive Director & Chief Strategist of HealthCORE Research, Communications & Management, Inc. which she co-founded – a private corporation that serves as resource center for global healthcare management and medical tourism research and communications in the Philippines. In 2011, she got the privilege of serving as Country Representative in the Philippines for DM Healthcare LLC, which is the largest healthcare network in GCC (Gulf Cooperating Countries).

A staunch advocate of global healthcare travel and medical tourism, Ms. Alumno has led various initiatives in the Philippines by partnering with the government and private sectors in the development of the country's brand positioning and marketing strategies for medical tourism. From 2008-2010, Ms. Alumno served as International Marketing and Communications Strategist to the Philippine Department of Tourism's Office for Sports and Wellness Tourism. In 2009, she was appointed Secretary General for Health & Wellness Alliance of the Philippines and had a short stint in serving the Philippine Tourism Promotions Board as Vice President for Marketing & Communications in 2010. At present, she serves as Advisory Board Member of the Center for Medical Tourism Research (Texas, USA) and Board Member for Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Healthcare Travel Task Force (Bangkok, Thailand).

Prior to running these two companies, Ms. Alumno spent her 11 years working for 3 foreign investment banks in different positions. Her extensive corporate career in leading foreign investment banks – ING Barings, HSBC and ABN AMRO – made her culturally adaptable with a global mindset as she worked with various nationalities across regions. Her experience in the corporate world ranged from operations management, HR, finance, to marketing and research. In her stint in Corporate Finance, she got herself immersed in the conduct of due diligence and valuation process of various corporate IPO's, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Corporate Advisory transactions in the Philippines.

Ms. Alumno is also presently Marketing, PR and Communications consultant for some of the country's leading healthcare organizations, universities, real estate companies, and lifestyle brands. She is also an active member of Public Relations Society of the Philippines promoting ethics, professionalism and excellence in the practice of public relations. A dynamic communicator, Ms. Alumno is always invited to speak in various conferences sharing her knowledge in marketing, branding, public relations, and medical tourism, among others. In 2012, she was invited as Contributing Editor for Philippine Daily Inquirer's monthly supplement titled Philippine Health & Wellness Travel.

Ms. Alumno graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a bachelor's degree in Tourism - Cum Laude ranking first in her batch and awarded Most Outstanding Student in her college for leadership and academic excellence giving her automatic civil service eligibility. She finished her Masters in Business Administration from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business and is a candidate for Masters in Strategic Economics in the University of Asia & the Pacific. Ms Laila Al Jassmi, Founder & CEO, Health Beyond Borders, Dubai, UAE

Laila is the founder & CEO of Health Beyond Borders in Dubai. It provides a platform for inbound and outbound health tourism in the region as well as consultancy & training in the field of health care. Prior to this she was the CEO of Health Policy and Strategy sector at Dubai Health Authority (DHA). She was responsible for the development of the policy and legislation for the health system in the Emirate of Dubai driven from Dubai Strategic Plan (DSP) 2015. Overseeing the implementation of the DHA Health strategy and conducting sector planning and forecasting. This to assure that Dubai develops a world class health system, high quality Public Health and healthcare service provision.

She has extensive knowledge of the healthcare systems, Health reforms, strategic direction, planning and delivery of healthcare services. She was leading the process of Dubai health reform that took place in 2007 and changes the structure and the role of Department of Health & Medical Services to Dubai Health Authority.

Laila has leaded the Dubai medical tourism initiative which was started in 2012 to place Dubai in the world health tourism map.

Laila is a graduate from the College of Allied Health Science and Nursing in Kuwait University and in 2007 secured her Masters in Executive Healthcare Administration from Zayed University with honorary. Also she is a graduate of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid leadership program 2003.

She has been awarded certificates of appreciation including the Dubai Government Excellence Award (distinguish employee 2009) and the Sheikh Rashid Award for Scientific Outstanding (2008). She was also awarded the Feigenbaum Excellence Leadership Award for Women's leaders 2011.

Laszlo Puczko, Managing Director, Xellum Management Consulting, Budapest, Hungary

László graduated in 1993 as an economist specialized in tourism and logistics at Budapest University of Economics. Then, led by his interest in culture and arts, he also graduated from the Art & Design Management department of the Hungarian University of Applied Arts (1996). He successfully completed his PhD in 2000. He has become a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) in 2003. Since 2006 he has been the president of the Association of Tourism Consultants, and founded The Tourism Observatory for Health, Wellness and Spa (2012).

He has begun his professional tourism and travel consultancy career, while he was still at school, as a colleague at the Tourism Research Centre of Budapest University of Economic Sciences, where he worked until 2001. Then he joined the Travel, Leisure and Tourism Team of KPMG, where he had the chance to experience how it is to work at a multinational company and in its international milieu. In 2004 he decided that an ideal match to his lifestyle would be a smaller and more personal company, and so he co-founded (and named) Xellum Ltd. The since past years and the professional partners provided him the opportunity to benefit from his knowledge and broaden his experiences in his beloved fields: apart from tourism, in the world of museums, experience mapping and design and spas. He has spent the longest time in education and consultancy. He teaches at various institutes of higher education both abroad (e.g. Finland, Estonia) and in Hungary (presently Head of the School of Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality at the BKF University of Applied Sceinces) and runs trainings at professional events and for industry organizations.

He is the (co-)author of numerous specialised books, e.g.: Health, Tourism and Hospitality (Spas, Wellness and Medical Travel), Impacts of Tourism and articles in professional journals.

He participated in more than a hundred projects in various fields: research, strategic and tactic planning, product development, experience mapping and design, impact analysis and marketing in health-, medical, wellness- and spa-tourism, transport, heritage and cultural tourism, eco-tourism and some specialised or thematic touristic products.

László is an internationally known and acknowledged expert, he lectures at various international professional and academic conferences and congresses, and he is member of the Global Speakers' Network.

Prof Manuel Pais Clemente, Director, European Medical Association, Portugal

Manuel Pais Clemente is a Full Professor and Chairman Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the Porto University School of Medicine. He completed his Residency Training Program at the Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, USA. Along with other duties he is President of the World Voice Consortium, Board Member of the Latin Societies of Otorhinolaryngology and Director European Medical Association. Besides his current areas of research and practice in Otorhinolaryngology his main interests include predictive, preventive and personalized medicine, innovation technologies and health policies. He has presented over 900 scientific papers, more than 250 published articles, he is member of 20 organizations and he has been awarded with numerous medals and honours.

Dr. Mary Wong Lai Lin, CEO, Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council, Malaysia

Dr. Mary Wong Lai Lin is the CEO of Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC). MHTC has been set up under the Ministry of Health as the primary agency to develop and promote the healthcare travel industry and to position Malaysia as the healthcare destination of choice.

Dr. Mary Wong has wide experiences in healthcare management and planning, having served in various capacities in the Ministry of Health Malaysia, both at state and federal level. At the Ministry level, she was involved in planning, implementing and evaluating of health policies and programs.

Dr. Mary Wong has a law degree from the University of London, a master's degree in Health Services Management from the University of Manchester, UK and she earned her doctorate in Health Policy, Economics and Financing from the National University of Singapore.

Dr. Ellahham received his Medical Degree from the American University of Beirut School of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon.
